Super Falcons to Parade WAFCON Trophy in Abuja on Monday, Set for Presidential Reception

Nigeria’s Super Falcons are expected to arrive back in the country on Monday, following their historic triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The team will be honoured with a victory parade in Abuja, where they will showcase the WAFCON trophy to fans and supporters. The parade will feature an open-roof bus ride through major parts of the Federal Capital Territory, including Airport Road, Berger Junction, Maitama and Wuse Market, before heading to the Presidential Villa.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will host the Super Falcons at the Villa in celebration of their remarkable comeback win over hosts Morocco in the WAFCON final.

The Falcons came from two goals down to defeat Morocco 3-2 at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, securing Nigeria’s 10th WAFCON title – the most by any country on the continent.

Reacting to the team’s performance, President Tinubu praised the players for their courage, determination and unity.

“They chose to accept this mission. They understood the assignment,” the President wrote on his official social media page.

“Our Superior Super Falcons delivered in true Nigerian fashion — Never say Never. They went. They saw. They conquered again. 10-time champions of Africa. #MissionX: COMPLETE!”

The President’s reception and the parade are expected to draw widespread attention and serve as a national celebration of the Super Falcons’ achievement.
