Super Falcons will get their bonuses – Ministry rep

The special adviser to the honourable minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Toyin Ibitoye has said the Super Falcons will get their money.

Reacting to the news of Super Falcons boycotting training over unpaid bonuses, Toyin Ibitoye said the ball is in motion and they will get paid.

The former Super Eagles media officer also said the ministry is not responsible for the payment of Super Falcons bonuses.

“The issues are being resolved. The Nigeria Football Federation has assured the team they will get all that is due to them.

“The Federal Ministry Of Youth And Sports Development has presented NFF’s request for financial intervention to the relevant quarters and it’s receiving urgent attention.

“The Federal Ministry Of Youth And Sports Development doesn’t pay bonuses.”

BBC World Football reporter Osasu Obayiuwana called out Toyin Ibitoye for saying the ministry not in charge of Super Falcons bonuses payment.

“Good day, Toyin. the Nigerian Football Federation says Nigerian Government, through the Federal Ministry Of Youth And Sports Development, is responsible for the Super Falcons’ bonuses.

“Can you kindly confirm or deny this, because Sunday Dare said, in an interview, that the NFF submitted their request late? Thanks.”

In his response, Toyin Ibitoye assured us that the money will be paid and the matter is being handled.

“The most important thing right now is that the issue is being resolved,” said Toyin Ibitoye.

“The processes for receiving funds from the Government take time and the team now understands this. Both the
Federal Ministry Of Youth And Sports Development and the Nigeria Football Federation is working to ensure things move at a faster pace.”
