Super signing! Edidiong Ezekiel scores one, assist other as Remo Stars get NPFL season underway with victory
Nigeria International, Edidiong Ezekiel proved a super signing for Remo Stars with a goal and assist as the Sky Blues got their NPFL season underway with a 2-0 win over El Kanemi Warriors.
One of eight 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League matchday one matches, Remo Stars Sports Club were hosts of new boys El Kanemi Warriors in Ikenne.
Edidiong was named in the starting XI for the game at the Remo Stars Stadium on Sunday.
In the 29th minute, Edidiong Ezekiel helped Remo Stars find the breathrough after a period of sustained pressure.
The forward flicked the ball to teammate Samuel Anakwe who drifted in field, ghosting past three warriors to score the opening goal of the game.
On a weekend of surprises in the NPFL, former Dakkada FC forward Edidiong Ezekiel will put the result beyond doubt with a goal of his own three minutes before the end of the game.
Segun Odunsi did a great job beating off challenge from four defenders to set-up Edidiong Ezekiel for the second goal of the game.
It finished 2-0 in favour of Remo Stars Sports in front of a packed crowd of spectators.
Since joining Remo Stars, Edidiong Ezekiel has gone on to represent the Nigeria U-23 and Super Eagles .
The forward was a member of the Eagles squad for the International friendly vs Costa Rica in November 22.
