Taiwo Afolabi celebrates latest National team call-up

Following her invitation for the Nigeria vs Tanzania FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, Taiwo Afolabi has taken to social media to celebrate.

A promotion for the midfielder who was one of Nigeria’s standout performers during the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India.

Coach Danjuma has invited 30 players to camp for the match in November.

The first leg of the fixture will take place in Tanzania on a date between November 10 and 12 while the second leg will be held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium on a date between November 17 and 19.

Hours after the list was published, Afolabi took to her X (formerly known as Twitter) handle to celebrate.

“I’m happy to announce that I’ve been called up to the Nigeria U20 Women’s team (Super Falconets) for the U20 Women’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Tanzania,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, FIFA has increased the number of participants at the U-20 Women’s World Cup to 24 teams from 16. Africa’s representatives at the tournament have also been increased from two to four.

The 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will be held in Colombia from August 31 to October 22 .
