Taiwo Awoniyi provides positive update that will excite both Nigeria and Nottingham Forest fans
Nottingham Forest forward Taiwo Awoniyi has announced his return to full fitness and is eager to reclaim his place in the starting lineup after an injury-riddled period.
The Nigerian striker, who battled a series of injuries last season, including a groin issue that required surgery and a thigh injury, is now focused on regaining his best form.
Awoniyi, 27, also missed a portion of pre-season due to personal reasons, which placed him behind fellow forward Chris Wood in terms of match readiness.
Despite making only substitute appearances in Forest’s first three games of the season, same way he was used during the recent International break by Nigeria. Now, Awoniyi is optimistic about his return to top form.
Speaking about his recovery, Awoniyi expressed his relief at being back on the pitch. “It feels great to be back,” he said. “After a period away due to injury, returning to play is what every footballer hopes for. I’m really happy to be back on the field.”
Reflecting on the difficulties he faced during his recovery, Awoniyi acknowledged the mental and physical challenges but remained focused on moving forward. “I am back, healthy, and fine. This topic is hard to go into, but as a player, it’s a phase you cannot miss. When it happens, you feel bad, but you must get going, stay fit, and do the best for yourself.”
As he works to regain match fitness and secure a starting role, Awoniyi is determined to contribute to Nottingham Forest’s campaign. “Nottingham Forest is a team full of talent and players who can be trusted. I just need to keep pushing and keep working hard.”
With Awoniyi now fit and focused, Forest and Super Eagles of Nigeria fans will be hoping to see the striker return to the form that saw him play a key role in the club’s survival last season. The upcoming fixtures will be crucial as Awoniyi looks to establish himself as a regular starter once again.
