Taiwo Awoniyi scores in Forest win over West Ham
Nigerian striker, Taiwo Awoniyi hadn’t scored in his last three games for Nottingham Forest. But in the match against West Ham United FC, he found the net to inspire victory over the Hammers.
Nottingham Forest boss Nuno changed two players from the team that lost to Newcastle. Taiwo Awoniyi was one of the new faces leading the attack.
On the other side, David Moyes made two changes to West Ham’s team after they suffered a big loss against Arsenal. Michail Antonio started for the first time since November.
Nottingham Forest started the game well and got the first goal just before halftime. West Ham couldn’t clear the ball, and Taiwo Awoniyi took advantage, scoring a great goal.
In the second half, Nottingham Forest kept up the pressure. West Ham’s frustration grew, and one of their players got sent off after getting two yellow cards.
Kalvin Phillips got his second yellow card for a late challenge. Forest then sealed their victory with another goal, making it 2-0, thanks to Callum Hudson-Odoi’s strike from inside the box.
AWONIYI GOES SPIRITUAL AFTER SCORING
Awoniyi went spiritual after scoring the opening goal on Saturday, Ferbuary 17.
In a unique goal celebration, the Nigerian forward who is known for his strong Christian inclination removed his shirt to reveal a caption: “Kilen F’olorun pe. In all darkness time, you became the light, Yeshua is lifted high”, plus a reference bible portion Ecclesiastes 12:13.
