Tanzania Denied First Ever AFCON Win In Draw Against Uganda

Tanzania were denied a first-ever win at the Africa Cup of Nations finals after Uganda scored a late goal to force a 1-1 draw in a dramatic Group C match.
Uganda started the game strongly and created the early chances. Allan Okello tested goalkeeper Zuberi Foba, who made a good save, while Rogers Mato hit the crossbar with a header.
Tanzania struggled in the first half and failed to record a shot on target. Feisal Salum, Novatus Miroshi and Kelvin John all missed their chances.
After the break, Tanzania improved and took the lead when Baba Alhassan was punished for handball following a shot from Alphonce Msanga. Simon Msuva calmly converted the penalty, sending Denis Onyango the wrong way.
Uganda pressed for an equaliser and finally got it ten minutes from time. Substitute Denis Omedi crossed from the right, and fellow substitute Uche Ikpeazu headed the ball into the net.
Uganda then had a big chance to win the match in added time after being awarded a penalty. However, Okello blasted his effort over the crossbar.
Tanzania almost scored a late winner when Charles M’Mombwa fired just wide, but the match ended level.
Both teams now have one point in Group C. Tanzania are still searching for their first AFCON finals victory, while Uganda will be disappointed after missing several chances.
