Tanzanian Club Suspends Super Eagles Goalkeeper Obasogie Over Alleged Match-Fixing
Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has been suspended by his Tanzanian club, Singida Black Stars, over an alleged match-fixing issue.
According to Tanzanian journalist Samir Sylva, the club took disciplinary action against two players after carrying out an internal investigation into alleged misconduct.
Obasogie was handed a three-month suspension over claims linked to match-fixing. Ugandan midfielder Khalid Aucho was also suspended for three months for misconduct, said to include absence from duty and failure to meet team obligations.
The club has not yet released a detailed public statement explaining the specific allegations against Obasogie. However, sources say the action is part of efforts to enforce discipline and protect the integrity of the team.
The suspension leaves the Nigerian goalkeeper facing an uncertain period in his career. Obasogie has recently been in contention for national team selection with the Nigeria national football team.
He was part of Nigeria’s squad at the last Africa Cup of Nations, where the team won a bronze medal. This latest development could affect his chances of being invited for the next international window as investigations continue.
