Team Nigeria kit sponsors for Paris Olympic games revealed
US-based sports apparel company Actively Black have announced that they are the official kit sponsor for Team Nigeria for the Paris Olympic Games.
The collaboration was revealed by Actively Black on their Instagram page, marking a significant milestone for the black-owned brand.
In their announcement, Actively Black expressed pride in their partnership with the Nigerian Olympic Committee, highlighting the momentous occasion for a black-owned brand to have a presence on the global stage.
Founded in 2020 by former basketball player Lanny Smith, Actively Black aims to challenge established sportswear giants like Nike, Adidas, and Reebok.
Despite being relatively new, the company has experienced rapid growth, reportedly reaching a valuation of $30 million in 2021. With a commitment to promoting Black designers and reinvesting a portion of sales into social justice initiatives, Actively Black has made a significant impact.
Notable collaborations include a partnership with Disney on “Black Panther”-themed clothing and providing Nigeria’s official uniforms at the 2022 Winter Olympics. The brand has also gained recognition from celebrities like NBA star Steph Curry, actress Lupita N’yongo, and basketball rising star Deja Kelly.
While the Team Nigeria Paris Olympic kits are yet to be unveiled, it is anticipated that the apparel will reflect the vibrant colors and spirit of Nigeria.
