Teary Gonzalo Higuain announces retirement from active football
Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain has announced he will be retiring from active football at the end of the 2022 MLS season .
Born on the 10th of December 1987 , Higuain is currently the captain of US Major Soccer League side Inter Miami .
Higuaín made the announcement amidst tears on Monday October 3, 2022 . He will take a bow after 17 years , 782 games , 361 career goals with a return of 14 trophies .
Pipita as Higuain is fondly called scored 31 goals for the Argentine national team , 15 goals for River Plate, 121 goals for Real Madrid from 2007-2013.
Higuaín moved to Napoli from Real Madrid in search of regular Football action and scored 91 goals for Napoli .
His performances earned him a move to Juventus where he scored 66 times . A brief spell at AC Milan was followed by a loan switch to Chelsea where he scored 5 goals in 14 appearances .
At Inter Miami , Gonzalo Higuain has scored 27 goals and will end his football career at the end of the current season .
