Tella Powers Burnley Past Preston With Sublime Hat-trick
Nathan Tella scored a hat-trick for Burnley in a 3-0 win over Preston to earn a 10th consecutive win in the English Championship.
He opened the scoring with a glancing header in the 15th minute.
The Clarets’ top scorer quickly added the second goal 10 minutes later with a low drive from the edge of the box.
Tella completed his hat-trick two minutes before the hour mark finishing off a long ball to score the first treble of his career.
The midfielder has now scored five goals in three matches for Burnley, while he a total of 13 goals and two assists in 27 appearances in the Championship.
Burnley have now matched a club record of scoring in 27 league games in a row.
Kompany waxed lyrical about Tella after the game.
“Nathan [Tella] is a player that gives us so much in so many ways, but I always put forward the effort he brings to the team The effort gets us where we are.
“I don’t even think about it [winning 10 games in a row].
It’s not really important. I just want to win the next one and the next one and the one after and try to get better. It doesn’t matter; we are never good enough so are always able to get better.”
The 24-year-old will hope to continue his form against Watford on Tuesday.
Vincent Kompany’s men remain seven points clear of second-placed Sheffield United.
