Tella Scores as Leverkusen Thrash Wehen Wiesbaden 4-0

Super Eagles winger Nathan Tella opened his account for the new season as Bayer Leverkusen cruised to a 4-0 win over Wehen Wiesbaden in the DFB-Pokal on Saturday.
Tella came off the bench and made an immediate impact, scoring Leverkusen’s third goal as they comfortably booked their place in the next round.
The Nigerian replaced Fernandez in the 65th minute and needed just four minutes to get on the scoresheet. The former Southampton winger found the net in the 69th minute to cap an impressive cameo.
Patrik Schick had put Leverkusen ahead shortly before half-time, while Lucas Vázquez doubled their lead two minutes after the restart.
Christian Kofane completed the scoring in the 79th minute with a simple finish as Leverkusen remained in complete control.
Wehen Wiesbaden struggled to create clear chances and had just 29 per cent possession, compared with Leverkusen’s 71 per cent.
Tella’s goal will be a big boost for the Nigerian as he looks to earn a more regular role in Leverkusen’s team this season.
His compatriot Victor Boniface was an unused substitute as he continues his return to Leverkusen following last season’s loan spell at Werder Bremen.
