Terem Moffi at the double, shines despite Lorient thrashing
Super Eagles striker scores for second consecutive match
Terem Moffi showed that his brace at the weekend for FC Lorient against Clermont Foot was no fluke as he added another double for his side in Ligue 1. The Super Eagles striker scored twice as his FC Lorient side was outclassed 5-2 by RC Lens.
Playing in front of their home fans, Lens quickly raced to a two-goal lead thanks to finishes from Florian Sotoca and Wesley Saïd in the first half. With the half nearing its conclusion, Moffi halved the deficit for his side in the 41st minute. The 23-year-old ghosted into space at the near post to deliver a cheeky flick into the back of the net after a cross from Dango Ouattara.
Five minutes into the second half, Moffi proved to be a thorn in the Lens defence as he equalised for his side to make it 2-2. A corner kick taken by Enzo Le Fee was headed on by Ouattara, and Moffi pounced with a poachers finish in front of goal, stabbing the ball home with a defender on his tail.
Further goals from Sotoca, Salis Abdul Samed and Lois Openda gave the home side a comfortable win at the end of the game. Moffi has now taken his tally to four in Ligue 1 this season. Innocent Bonke was a late substitute for Lorient in the game.
