‘That’s a complete striker’ – Drogba sings Osimhen praises
Chelsea and African legend Didier Drogba has become the latest important football person to sing the praises of Victor Osimhen.
The UEFA Champions League, Sunday Oliseh, Luciano Spalletti, and many Italian greats have all sung the praises of the Nigerian striker.
Drogba who was a prolific striker and one of the best strikers of his generation has only good things to say about Victor Osimhen.
It is not the first time that the Ivorian will praise the Nigerian striker. In an interview with Italy’s Calciomercatoit in June 2022, Drogba said Victor Osimhen is a great striker.
“I like him a lot. He’s a great striker,” said Drogba to Calciomercatoit
“Nothing is impossible in football. When you have a talent like he’s got, I think it’s just a question of momentum.”
While Didier Drogba called Victor Osimhen a great striker in June, he has called the Nigerian striker a “complete striker” on a post on his official Twitter page.
“That’s a complete striker: unselfishness…the real meaning of “win as A TEAM “!!!!
@victorosimhen9.”
Drogba was reacting to a video showing an incident in Victor Osimhen’s first game after returning from an injury.
The Nigerian won a penalty, being his club’s designated penalty taker, he decided to hand the ball over to his teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who converted the spot kick.
Victor Osimhen also put his name on the score sheet with an incredible pressing forward goal to help Napoli beat Ajax 4-2 on the day.
Praise from one of Victor Osimhen’s mentors will definitely go help the Nigerian striker who is on top of his game at the moment.
“I grew up watching Didier Drogba play, he was an example for me,” said Osimhen while speaking to Napoli’s Youtube Channel.
“One day I was training and a man called me asking if I knew who I play like. He told me to go to YouTube and see Didier Drogba.
“There I fell in love with his way of playing and the kind of person he is. From that moment, seeing Drogba play had a major impact on my game and helped me a lot.”
The Nigerian striker will lead Napoli today when they face Liverpool in a Champions League game at Anfield.
