‘The club will decide’ – Juventus manager reacts to Paul Pogba return reports

Juventus head coach Thiago Motta has declined to comment on speculation regarding the potential termination of Paul Pogba’s contract following reports of his ban reduction.

Pogba, who was handed a four-year suspension last year after elevated testosterone levels were found in his bloodstream, had his ban reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).

The 31-year-old has maintained his innocence throughout the doping controversy and successfully appealed the initial ruling. The CAS decision means Pogba could return to football in March 2025.

Despite this positive outcome, rumours have surfaced suggesting Juventus might still be considering terminating Pogba’s contract. When asked about the midfielder’s future during a press conference, Motta refrained from giving a direct answer, saying, “The club will decide what to do about Pogba. He was a great player, but he hasn’t played for a long time. I’m only focused on the present.”

Pogba rejoined Juventus in 2022 from Manchester United but has only made 12 appearances due to injuries and the suspension. With his return date now revealed, the club’s next steps regarding Pogba’s role remain uncertain.
