The Wait Continues: Man United Fan Hits 392 Days Without Haircut as Forest End Winning Streak

A die-hard Manchester United fan, Frank Ilett, has gone 392 days without a haircut, keeping a promise not to trim his hair until his beloved team wins five matches in a row.
The 29-year-old supporter, who runs a social media page called The United Strand, started the challenge on 5 October 2024 after growing frustrated with United’s inconsistent form. However, what began as a fun dare has turned into a 13-month-long wait — and counting.
United came close to ending Ilett’s wait this week, with three straight wins putting him on the verge of his long-awaited trip to the barber’s chair. But Nottingham Forest ended that dream, holding Ruben Amorim’s side to a 2–2 draw at the City Ground on Saturday.
United had taken the lead through Casemiro’s first-half goal and looked set to claim their fourth consecutive victory. However, Forest, who had not scored a league goal since September, turned the game around with quick goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Nicolo Savona early in the second half.
Amad Diallo’s late equaliser rescued a point for United, but the result means Ilett’s hair will continue to grow until the Red Devils finally achieve five consecutive wins.
The challenge has drawn plenty of attention online, with bookmaker Paddy Power even featuring Ilett in a light-hearted advert showing his “barber” missing one of his best customers.
Despite the setback, Ilett remains hopeful that his patience will soon pay off. With matches against Tottenham and other tough opponents ahead, fans are now jokingly wondering which will come first — United’s winning streak or Ilett’s next haircut.
For now, the wait continues, and so does the hair.
