Tolu Arokodare Delighted as Father Watches Him Play for Super Eagles
Tolu Arokodare has shared his joy after his father watched him play for the Super Eagles for the first time during their recent 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The Nigerian striker earned his first call-up to the national team after an impressive season with Belgian club Genk. He came on as a substitute in the matches against Zimbabwe and Rwanda and played a key role in Victor Osimhen’s goal against Zimbabwe.
Arokodare was full of energy on the pitch and came close to scoring his first international goal several times.
A Special Moment for Arokodare’s Father
Speaking in an interview with Racing Genk’s YouTube channel, Arokodare described how special it was for his father to see him play for Nigeria.
“I was very happy for my dad because I know it meant a lot to him. I was also happy he could come to watch me play for the first time ever.
“He watched me in Nigeria before, but this was at a higher level. I almost scored. We didn’t win, but I got to train with players I look up to – players I see on Instagram and in the Premier League. It was a great experience.”
Arokodare’s father was an important guest at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, witnessing his son compete at the highest level.
Impressive Club Form
Arokodare has been in top form this season, scoring 18 goals in 31 matches. He is currently the top scorer in the Jupiler Pro League.
