Tommy Paul wins Houston Title after saving three match points

Tommy Paul claimed the Houston title after a hard-fought win over Román Andrés Burruchaga, coming through 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 in the final.

Paul had to save three match points before closing out the match, securing his fifth ATP title and his first since 2024 after dealing with injury setbacks in recent seasons.

During the match, a fan shouted:

“Tommy will you marry me?”   to which the crowd laughed.

After the win, Paul said:

“It’s an amazing event. It’s one none of the Americans want to miss. I’m so happy to come here every single year and play in front of you guys. You guys are what really makes it special. We always comment about how everyone is so well dressed here. We love coming here. It makes us feel special when you guys dress up to come and watch us so thank you guys.”

He also spoke about his opponent:

“Roman… obviously an amazing week. Congrats to you and your team. I mean, today’s level was seriously a great great level. If I’m not mistaken you came from South America last week and you just won a tournament last week. You’re obviously playing amazing tennis and it’s only going to get better. You have a great season ahead of you for sure.” ❤

The title marks his return to winning form after recent injury setbacks.
