Top Scout Urges European Club to Sign Nigeria’s Tolu Arokodare
A leading football scout has said he has recommended Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare to the top European club he works for.
Arokodare has caught the eye of many football followers with his strong performances for Genk, who currently top the Belgian Jupiler Pro League table.
The former Amiens striker made his international debut for Nigeria’s Super Eagles on 21 March in a World Cup qualifier against Rwanda. Four days later, he played his first home game in a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe.
Genk signed Arokodare from French club Amiens in early 2023 for €5 million, beating Anderlecht to his signature. Now, they are expected to make a huge profit if he is sold this summer.
While Turkish side Trabzonspor showed interest last year, the striker is now attracting attention from even bigger European clubs.
The scout, who preferred not to be named, told Het Laatste Nieuws through Voetbalnieuws:
“I told my club: if you’re looking for a striker, sign Tolu. I think Genk will ask for around €25 million, but the deal could close for €20 million.”
Genk’s technical director, Dimitri De Condé, recently said the club would like to keep its key players, but admitted that both Zakaria El Ouahdi and Arokodare might leave at the end of the season.
Arokodare is currently joint-top scorer in the Belgian league with 18 goals in 33 matches.
