Tottenham Beat Manchester United for First Home Premier League Win in 105 Days

Tottenham ended a 105-day wait for a home Premier League win with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday. The win came after a tough run of results for both teams this season.

James Maddison scored the only goal of the match in the 13th minute, lifting Spurs above United in the league table to 12th. This was their third win over Manchester United this season.

The victory provided relief for Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, whose team had been struggling in both domestic cups and the league. Despite the win, Tottenham fans showed their dissatisfaction with the club’s ownership and chairman Daniel Levy, protesting before the match. A large banner read, “24 years, 16 managers, 1 trophy – Time for change.”

The win was made possible with key players returning from injury. Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario made his first appearance since November, and Maddison was back in the starting line-up. United, on the other hand, were hit with more injury problems, including Amad Diallo and Lisandro Martinez being ruled out for the season.

Manchester United had early chances but were unable to score. Hojlund had a shot saved by Vicario, and Garnacho missed a great opportunity to level the score. Tottenham capitalised when Andre Onana failed to fully save a shot from Lucas Bergvall, allowing Maddison to score into an empty net.

United came close again, with Garnacho’s shot saved by Vicario and Zirkzee heading wide with the goal open. Despite some pressure, United’s lack of goals this season showed, and Spurs managed to hold on for the win.

Tottenham’s defence stood firm, and even though Onana kept United in the game with key saves, Spurs’ makeshift backline kept the visitors from scoring, giving Postecoglou hope for better times ahead.
