Tottenham in last-minute bid to hijack Leicester move for Kelechi Iheanacho
Reports in the English media last night say Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as late contenders in the race to sign Manchester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho.
The 20-year-old Nigerian international Iheanacho has long been linked with a departure from the Etihad, with the arrival of Gabriel Jesus at the club earlier this year pushing the youngster further down the attacking pecking order behind the Brazilian and fellow South American superstar Sergio Aguero.
It was reported on Monday afternoon that Leicester City had secured a deal for the youngster worth a fee in the region of £25 million, having beaten off interest from West Ham United.
However, a number of sources last night claimed that Tottenham are set to make life difficult for Leicester with a bid of their own, as Mauricio Pocehttino’s side attempt to use the interest of City in Kyle Walker as leverage to bring Iheanacho to White Hart Lane.
The North London club have been touted as a potential destination for City’s talented young goal scorer in the past, while Spurs are also said to be keen to offload Walker as quickly as possible, meaning a deal for Iheanacho could come to fruition very quickly.
There was no official reaction from either Iheanacho or Manchester City to the new reports yesterday though.
