Trent Arnold struck a powerful effort past goalkeeper Ederson to force a 1-1 draw between Manchester City and Liverpool FC at the Etihad Stadium.
The English Premier League early kick-off on Saturday, November 25 was not the goal-feast predicted but there were still records broken and set.
Erling Haaland scored his 50th English Premier League goal to put Manchester City ahead in the first half.
That goal made sure the Norwegian became the fastest player to reach 50 Premier League goals (48 appearances).
That half was great for City who had Jeremy Doku running rings round Trent Arnold, but the Englishman had the last laugh with ten minutes left to play at the Etihad Stadium.
In a miserable first half, Arnold was trolled as, too often absent when Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku danced into the Liverpool area from the left wing and so celebrated with a shutting sign at the City fans after smatching home a late equalizer to force a share of the spoils.
Against the treble-winning, all-conquering City, a draw at the Etihad is some result. This was the first in 24 games in all competitions at home over the course of 2023 that City had not won.
Liverpool had just about stayed in the game after Erling Haaland’s 50th City goal gave them the lead. Alisson was fortunate to survive when he appeared to flap at a cross on 68 minutes and referee Chris Kavanagh spotted some contact with Manuel Akanji. By then Ruben Dias had scored what City thought was their second goal. Doku had dominated them down the left side.
With the 1-1 result, City have lost their 23-game home winning run.
