Trinity Rodman becomes World’s Highest-Paid Women’s Footballer

Trinity Rodman has become the highest paid women’s football player in the world after signing a new contract with Washington Spirit.

The deal, agreed in January 2026, is reported to be worth more than $2 million per year, including bonuses. It is the largest contract ever signed by a women’s football player, and it keeps Rodman with the Spirit through 2028.

The agreement was made possible under the NWSL’s High Impact Player rule, which allows clubs to exceed the salary cap to retain elite players.

Rodman, 23, has been with the Spirit since being drafted second overall in 2021. She has won an NWSL title with the club and Olympic gold with the United States Women’s National Team, and is widely regarded as one of the top players of her generation.

Her contract places her ahead of Europe’s highest earners and marks a significant moment for pay growth in women’s football.
