Troost-Ekong and Sanusi to miss Nigeria’s AFCON clash vs Guinea-Bissau
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face Guinea-Bissau in their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Group A clash without the services of key players William Troost-Ekong and Zaidu Sanusi.
Troost-Ekong, who sustained a hamstring injury during Nigeria’s 1-0 victory against Cote d’Ivoire, will be unavailable for the upcoming match.
The centre-back not only played a crucial defensive role but also scored the winning goal in the victory of the Elephants on Thursday.
Also, Nigeria coach, Jose Peseiro will be without left-back Zaidu Sanusi who will miss the game due to an injury he picked up in the victory over Cote d’Ivoire.
The absence of these two players poses a challenge for the Super Eagles, requiring adjustments in the starting lineup for the last group A fixtue.
2013 AFCON winner, Kenneth Omeruo is a potential replacement for Troost-Ekong in the central defense positoin while Bruno Onyeamachi is the other left-back in the teams squad.
