U.S. Open social round-up: Fowler stars as blimp crashes near Erin Hills
The opening round of the U.S. Open belonged to Rickie Fowler, who took a one-shot lead on Thursday.
Searching for his first major win, Fowler produced a brilliant seven-under 65 at Erin Hills.
As the American made the most of good scoring conditions early in the day, Phil Mickelson officially withdrew from the tournament.
A blimp also crashed near the Wisconsin course, while several big names struggled.
