UCL: Odey Scores, Olayinka Net Into His Own Net As Osimhen Fires Blank

It was a mixed outing for Nigerian players who were involved with their club sides in Wednesday’s matchday three clash of the UEFA Champions League.

In Belgium, Stephen Odey scored on his UEFA Champions League debut as his Belgian club, KCR Genk fell 4-1 to defending champions, Liverpool.

Ndongala created for Genk with some neat footwork in the Liverpool area but Odey still has to stay calm and beat Alisson Becker after a slick turn. Odey was substituted let on for his compatriot Paul Onuachu who had a rather quiet night in front of goal albeit a shot on target in the first half of the game which was well saved by Becker.

Elsewhere, Peter Olayinka scored for Slavia Prague but this time an own goal as Barcelona edged Slavia 2-1 at the Eden Arena when Messi floated in a free kick to find Luis Suarez whose effort took a deflection off Olayinka.

In France, Victor Osimhen played all 90mins as Lille came from behind to snatch a 1-1 draw against Valencia, Ikone was the hero for the French side when on as a substitute made an adroit turn before smashing into the roof of the net, no less than LOSC deserve.
