Udeze: Nigeria needs a World Class Coach for Super Eagles

Ex Nigerian International Ifeanyi Udeze has told the Nigeria Football Federation to get a World Class Coach for the Super Eagles.

Udeze made this call on BrilaFM while reacting to the trending issues surrounding the expiring contract of current Super Eagles Head Coach Jose Peseiro.

The 42-year old retired footballer asked the Football Federation to make a review of its financial status and if possible get a foreign coach with “clout” and “experience” or pick from the Nigerian coaches to head the Eagles.

Udeze said “We have passed this level. You [talking about the Nigeria Football Federation] should know whether you have the funds to pay a new coach. This is because we actually need a world class coach for the Super Eagles.

“If not, you look inwards. If they have the money to pay a good coach, you get a foreign coach with clout and experience,” the former West Bromwich Albion left-back said.

Famed for his feistiness, intelligent marking and remarkable recovery rate during his active days, Udeze has since his retirement taken up punditry duties and has been vocal in criticism of Peseiro`s choice for the Nigerian National team job.

The contributions of former Super Eagles players like Ifeanyi Udeze who are not satisfied with the teams performance will still be subject to decisions taken when the NFF Board finally meets to discuss on the Portuguese managers expiring contract.

As revealed by the NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau on Friday May 19, the Football Federation Board will meet to decide whether to renew or terminate Jose Peseiro`s contract as Super Eagles Head Coach.
