Umar Sadiq Frustrated Over Limited Game Time at Real Sociedad
Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq has voiced his frustration about his lack of playing time at Real Sociedad. The forward sent a clear message to coach Imanol Alguacil, expressing his disappointment.
Struggles Since Joining Real Sociedad
Sadiq, 27, joined Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022 from Almeria for €20 million. The Kaduna-born striker was signed to replace Alexander Isak, who moved to Newcastle United.
He made an impressive debut, scoring against Atletico Madrid, but his progress was derailed by a serious knee injury (cruciate ligament tear) that kept him out for the rest of the 2022/23 season.
Although he returned to action last season, Sadiq only started 12 matches. This season, his situation has worsened, with the striker starting in just two games and featuring in less than half of Real Sociedad’s matches.
Sadiq Speaks Out
In a recent interview with Spanish media outlet Eldesmarque, Sadiq shared his frustrations and explained that he needs consistent opportunities to regain his top form.
“I just need continuity, and that does not depend on me,” Sadiq said. “I’m training well, I’m more professional now, but the other part is beyond my control.
“The only thing I can do is keep pushing, keep training hard, and when I get continuity, I’ll prove myself.”
Determined to Succeed
Despite the challenges, Sadiq remains committed to working hard and hopes for more opportunities to shine in the coming matches. For now, he continues to push himself in training, waiting for his chance to make an impact for Real Sociedad.
