Umar Sadiq Wins La Liga Goal of the Month for March 2025
Valencia striker Umar Sadiq has been named La Liga’s Goal of the Month winner for March 2025. The Spanish league announced the award through its official channels.
Sadiq’s brilliant backheel goal in the 87th minute of Valencia’s 3-3 draw with Osasuna was voted the best goal of the month. His clever finish left Osasuna goalkeeper Sergio Herrera helpless, showcasing his skill and composure under pressure.
The Nigerian forward beat competition from Rayo Vallecano’s Romanian defender Andrei Ratiu and CD Leganes striker Diego Garcia to claim the award.
Impressive Form in March
Sadiq has been in top form for Valencia this month, scoring three goals in three matches. He netted twice against Osasuna and once against Real Valladolid CF. His performances also earned him a nomination for La Liga’s Player of the Month award.
His Valencia teammate Diego López shared the spotlight, winning the Best Under-23 Player award for March after matching Sadiq’s goal tally.
Super Eagles Snub
Despite his fine club form, Sadiq was left on the bench in Nigeria’s recent World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe. Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle preferred Victor Osimhen in attack, while Tolu Arokodare and Victor Boniface were used as backup options.
Sadiq, who won a bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics, will now aim to continue his impressive performances and push for a more prominent role in the national team.
