“We have some unfinished business” – Warriors owner Lacob wants Dubs-Cavs Part III
Joe Lacob may not have said anything unexpected, but his appraisal of another Warriors-Cavaliers matchup in the NBA Finals is noteworthy nonetheless.
Seemingly asked which Eastern Conference foe he prefers Golden State play in the upcoming Finals, the Warriors co-owner replied somewhat emphatically.
“I don’t care who we play, but my preference is Cleveland,” Lacob said during a Q&A with a few reporters. “We have some unfinished business.”
Dubs-Cavs Part III would be a grudge match, of course. The last two league champions have looked to be on a collision course since the 2016 Finals ended with the Cavaliers’ first title. It has ramped up in these playoffs, with the teams a combined 22-1 — and Dubs fans are happy to point out which team has lost.
So it’s little wonder Lacob would like to square away what transpired between the squads the last two years. And, despite the Cavs dropping Game 3 to the Celtics in the East finals, such a face-off feels likely.
In which case, some of Golden State’s business might be finished by Father’s Day.
