Usman Abdallah explains how he felt after Kano Pillars’ home loss to Remo Stars

Kano Pillars’ unbeaten start to the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season was brought to an abrupt halt following a 2-0 defeat to Remo Stars in a Matchday three encounter at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium in Katsina, their temporary home ground.

Speaking after the match, Kano Pillars head coach Usman Abdallah acknowledged the strength of the opposition and the advantage Remo Stars gained from their early season preparations due to their involvement in the CAF Champions League.

“It’s a painful defeat for us, especially at home,” Abdallah said in his post-match comments. “Remo Stars have been well-prepared because of their continental commitments, while we are still building up.”

Despite the disappointment, Abdallah expressed confidence in his team’s ability to recover from the setback. “I am confident we will bounce back and aim for maximum points in our upcoming games,” he added.

Kano Pillars, nicknamed Sai Masu Gida, had started the season brightly but will now focus on their next fixture — an away match against Abia Warriors in Southeastern Nigeria. Abdallah will be hoping his team can regroup and put in a strong performance as they look to get back on track in the NPFL campaign.

The defeat leaves Kano Pillars with room to improve as they seek to return to winning ways and maintain their competitiveness in the league.
