Van Dijk set to reject PSG to become Liverpool highest-paid player in history
Liverpool defender, Virgil van Dijk has reportedly made up his mind on signing a contract extension at Liverpool that will make him the clubs highest-paid player in history rather than secure a move to Paris Saint-Germain who are interested in signing him.
The Dutch who has enjoyed great success and massive media attention since he joined Liverpool from Southampton on for £75m in January 2018 is not moved by the offer of £280,000 a week that Paris Saint-Germain are offering him, instead wants a contract renewal at Liverpool.
According to The Sun, Virgil van Dijk who currently earns £180,000 a week is open to extending his contract at £220,000 a week which will make him earn more than Mo Salah who currently gets £200,000 a week.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are also working on giving Saido Mane and Gini Wijnaldum, who has a year left of his contract, new contracts.
An official announcement is due to be made in the coming weeks, on the assumption that Liverpool are confirmed as Premier League champions.
