Victor Boniface expresses surprise at how fast Anthony Joshua knocked out Francis Ngannou
Nigeria Super Eagles star Victor Boniface, like many others, was left in awe after witnessing Anthony Joshua’s 6-minutes knockout victory against Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia.
The Bayer Leverkusen striker took to social media to express his disbelief following Joshua’s swift dismantling of Ngannou in just six minutes.
Joshua wasted no time asserting his dominance in Riyadh, flooring Ngannou in the opening round with a blistering right hand. Despite surviving the initial onslaught, Ngannou soon found himself overwhelmed by Joshua’s relentless attacks.
As reported here earlier, a devastating straight right hand from Joshua in the second round left Ngannou face-planted on the canvas, prompting the referee to halt the fight after just six minutes of action.
“Na highlight i watch abi na the fight be this,” tweeted Boniface, reflecting on the lightning-fast conclusion of the much-anticipated crossover bout.
Even for Boniface, accustomed to elite sporting performances, Joshua’s rapid dismantling of Ngannou was difficult to comprehend, as evidenced by his now-deleted post on Twitter.
Currently recovering from a knee injury that sidelined him since January, Boniface had been in sensational form for Leverkusen, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists before his setback.
No doubt, Boniface will draw inspiration from Joshua’s display of power and intensity as he continues his rehabilitation journey. While the fight may have been brief, Joshua reaffirmed his status as one of the most formidable punchers in world sports with his clinical victory over Ngannou.
Like many others, Boniface was left stunned and impressed by Joshua’s performance in Saudi Arabia, highlighting the historic night in the world of combat sports.
