Victor Boniface gets massive financial boost with new contract at Bayer Leverkusen
Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has signed a contract extension with Bayer Leverkusen, keeping him at the club until 2029.
According to Sky Sports Germany’s Patrick Berger, Boniface’s salary has more than doubled, making him one of the top earners at the club, after previously earning €3m per year.
Despite interest from clubs in England and Saudi Arabia, Boniface is happy at Leverkusen, and the club is pleased with his performances. They would only consider selling him for more than €50 million.
Boniface, who recently recovered from a thigh injury he suffered during Nigeria’s 2025 AFCON qualifying match against Rwanda in November, could return to action against RB Leipzig.
Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso provided positive news about the 24-year-old striker, who had been out for nearly two months. Boniface was on the bench for Leverkusen’s 2-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
“We do not expect any issues with injuries before the game against Leipzig,” Alonso said. “Let’s train now, but my information is that everyone (except Adli, Belocian, and Terrier) is available, including Victor (Boniface) and Nordi (Mukiele).”
