Victor Boniface scores late winner as Bayer Leverkusen edge Wolfsburg in 4-3 thriller

Nigeria’s Victor Boniface played the role of hero for Bayer Leverkusen as he came off the bench to net a dramatic late winner in a pulsating 4-3 victory over Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.

In a match filled with twists and turns, Leverkusen initially held a 2-1 lead before Wolfsburg turned the game on its head to go into halftime with a 3-2 advantage.

The second half saw Piero Hincape level the score for Leverkusen in the 48th minute, setting up a thrilling conclusion.

With the score locked at 3-3, Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso introduced Boniface in the 68th minute, looking for a breakthrough.

The 23-year-old Nigerian striker delivered in style. As the match moved into added time, Boniface found space in the box and struck a powerful left-footed shot into the net, sending the BayArena into wild celebrations.
