Victor Boniface to Miss Bayer Leverkusen’s First Bundesliga Game of 2025
Victor Boniface will not be playing in Bayer Leverkusen’s first Bundesliga match of 2025 due to a setback in his recovery, according to reports.
The Super Eagles striker had a strong start to the season, scoring eight goals and getting one assist in 15 games. However, he suffered a hamstring injury in mid-November, which has kept him out since then.
There were hopes that Boniface would return for Leverkusen’s first game of the year against Borussia Dortmund on January 10. But now, reports say he needs more time to fully recover.
His return date is now uncertain, and he will likely miss the next match against Mainz on January 14. However, he is expected to be ready for the game against Borussia Monchengladbach on January 18.
Leverkusen’s coach, Xabi Alonso, has good options in attack, as Patrik Schick has been in great form. If Schick continues playing well, Boniface’s absence may not be a big issue.
