Victor Osimhen agrees to join Galatasaray

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is reportedly on the verge of joining Turkish giants Galatasaray, bringing an end to the uncertainty surrounding his football career.

The Super Eagles forward, who has had a strained relationship with Napoli since a social media incident last season, was previously linked with moves to Saudi club Al Ahli and Chelsea, but both deals fell through. Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) also showed interest earlier in the summer.

According to recent reports, Osimhen has now agreed to a loan move to Galatasaray. However, the player is also seeking a review of some terms in his current contract with Napoli before finalizing the deal.

One of the key issues under discussion is the reduction of his release clause from €130 million to €75 million. Additionally, Osimhen is pushing for a break clause in January, allowing him to leave if a top European club comes forward with an offer.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed these developments, stating, “Victor Osimhen has accepted to join Galatasaray on loan. Osimhen’s now asking for the release clause at Napoli to become €75m instead of €130m… also wants a break clause for January in case top clubs approach him over a move. Final points being discussed.”

Galatasaray is expected to cover Osimhen’s salary, estimated at €9-10 million, for the duration of the loan. However, the loan agreement with Napoli does not include any option or obligation for Galatasaray to buy the player at the end of the season.

As Osimhen, 25, prepares to join his national team colleagues for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda, this move to Galatasaray could mark a significant chapter in his career. The final details of the contract are expected to be ironed out soon, with Galatasaray reportedly arranging a private jet to bring the forward to Turkey once everything is agreed upon.
