Victor Osimhen and Nigerian Stars Advance in Champions League Knockouts
Victor Osimhen and Galatasaray have secured a place in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, despite suffering a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City on the final day of the group stage. The Nigerian forward helped his team maintain enough points to qualify, with Galatasaray finishing in 20th position, earning 10 points from eight matches and ending with a goal difference of -2.
Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman will also continue in Europe’s elite competition with Atalanta, even after a 1-0 loss at Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium. Atalanta finished 15th in the group stage with 13 points from eight matches.
Meanwhile, Raphael Onyedika and his Belgian side Club Brugge advanced comfortably after a 3-0 home victory over Olympique Marseille, finishing in 19th place. Both Galatasaray and Club Brugge, being unseeded, are expected to face tough opponents in the Round of 16.
