Victor Osimhen confirms Premier League aspirations amid Napoli commitment
Victor Osimhen has affirmed his intention to play in the English Premier League (EPL) in the future, even as he remains committed to his existing contract with Italian Serie A club Napoli.
Osimhen, 25, has earned recognition as one of the world’s top strikers over the past two years.
His outstanding performance last season contributed significantly to Napoli’s Scudetto victory, scoring an impressive 26 goals to clinch the top scorer award. Notably, he broke longstanding goal records set by African football legends like Samuel Eto’o and George Weah.
Despite interest from various European and Saudi-based clubs seeking his signature, Osimhen opted to extend his stay with Napoli by signing a new deal that binds him to the club until 2023. Nonetheless, speculation about his future persists, especially with Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal actively seeking a striker.
In response to the ongoing rumors, Osimhen addressed his future plans, stating, “I will definitely play in the Premier League. But for now, I have other plans in my career that I’m looking up to. When the time comes, everyone will know,” as revealed to SkySports.
While the Nigerian goal-scorer expressed his aspirations for the Premier League, he emphasized his immediate focus on ongoing commitments with Napoli. Osimhen is currently with the Super Eagles in Cote d’Ivoire participating in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The forward was on target in Nigeria’s opening group game vs Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, January 14, 2024.
