Victor Osimhen contract renewal status explained In Napoli statement
Italian Serie A Champions, Napoli SSC have issues a statement which offers explanation on Victor Osimhen and his contract renewal status.
After a sensational 2022/2023 season, Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen was subject of transfer enquiry from other clubs but Napoli held firm to their man and offered him a new contract with improved terms.
According to Napoli, the forward gave verbal consent to agreement for a new contract but has since taken a new stand which has generated tension following recent public comments by club President, Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Reports in Italy suggest Osimhen is displeased with the comments made by Aurelio De Laurentiis over his contract renewal status but just like they did during the now-forgotten TikTok video controversy, Napoli have released a crisis quashing statement.
The club statement on Friday, October 20 read; “President de Laurentiis never shared any negative comment about Victor. He just said that after verbally agreeing on plan to sign new deal, Osimhen changed his mind”.
“We hope it’s just stand-by moment to think about it. In the next weeks we will discuss with his agent Calenda about the future”.
“Reports of tense situation between Napoli and Osimhen are 100% wide of mark”.
Meanwhile, Osimhen will not be in action this weekend after returning from International duty with the Super Eagles of Nigeria injured.
