Victor Osimhen meets Odion Ighalo after tensed Instagram outburst

Odion Ighalo recently stepped in to mediate a tense situation involving Victor Osimhen and former Super Eagles coach Finidi George.

The intervention came after Osimhen’s heated rant on Instagram Live, where he criticized Finidi George for allegedly questioning his commitment to the national team.

In a meeting of past and present football icons, former Manchester United striker Ighalo and current Super Eagles sensation Osimhen were seen enjoying a hangout session. This gathering happened just days after the Napoli star’s controversial outburst, which made headlines.

The 35-year-old Ighalo, now playing for Al-Wehda, shared glimpses of their get-together on social media, showing the two flexing and having fun with friends. It appeared that Ighalo had welcomed Osimhen into his home, creating a relaxed environment for the younger player.

Osimhen’s outburst followed his absence from Nigeria’s recent World Cup qualifiers, as he took time off to recover during the summer amid ongoing speculation about his future at Napoli. During the Instagram Live session, Ighalo, respected by Osimhen, urged the younger star to calm down and focus on the game rather than the off-field drama.

This interaction highlighted the dynamic between the old and new guards of Nigerian football, with Ighalo using his experience and status to guide Osimhen through a difficult period. Ighalo’s attempt to diffuse the situation was a demonstration of his leadership and mentorship.

Last season, Ighalo netted 15 goals for Al-Wehda in the Saudi Pro League, the same number Osimhen scored for Napoli in what was a challenging Serie A season for the former champions.

The meeting between Ighalo and Osimhen was not only a display of camaraderie but also a moment of support and guidance, aiming to keep the focus on their football careers.
