Victor Osimhen Misses Galatasaray’s Turkish Cup Match Due to Illness
Victor Osimhen was notably absent from Galatasaray’s squad for their Turkish Cup match against Basaksehir FK on Wednesday evening at Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi RAMS Park.
While some speculated that the Nigerian striker had been rested, sources confirm that Osimhen was not available due to a fever. The former African Footballer of the Year is currently recovering from the illness and was unable to take part in the match.
Osimhen is expected to return to training with Galatasaray on Thursday and should be ready for their upcoming Turkish Super Lig match against Basaksehir FK.
Galatasaray struggled in attack without Osimhen and had to come from behind twice to secure a 2-2 draw. Former Tottenham defender Davinson Sánchez scored a header in the 51st minute, and Abdülkerim Bardakcı added the equaliser with 16 minutes remaining.
Michy Batshuayi, who started in Osimhen’s place, failed to make an impact in the match, going without a goal in 90 minutes of play.
Osimhen has been in great form for Galatasaray this season, scoring 10 goals and providing 3 assists in 12 league matches. He has also contributed 5 goals (3 goals, 2 assists) in 4 Europa League appearances, proving his consistency.
