Victor Osimhen reaches Instagram milestone
Weeks after publicly criticizing former Super Eagles coach Finidi George on Instagram, Victor Osimhen has hit a significant milestone on the social media platform.
The Napoli star has now amassed 4 million followers on Instagram, further solidifying his position as one of the most-followed Nigerian footballers globally.
Research shows indicates that between January and July 2024, the 25-year-old Super Eagles striker gained over 700,000 followers on Instagram. Prior to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Osimhen had 3.3 million followers. By May, his following had increased to 3.8 million.
Despite experiencing a brief dip in May, where he lost over 100,000 followers, Osimhen quickly regained and surpassed his previous numbers, reaching 4 million followers by July 2024.
This achievement places him just behind Al Fayha winger Henry Onyekuru, who holds the top spot among Nigerian footballers with 4.5 million followers on Instagram.
Osimhen’s growing influence on social media underscores his status as one of the most prominent Nigerian footballers. The reigning African Player of the Year has been in the spotlight amid speculation about his future in Italy. While a dream transfer to Chelsea has been ruled out, he is still expected to leave Napoli this summer, with reported interest from PSG, Arsenal, and clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
