Victor Osimhen Yet to Decide on Next Club Despite Transfer Talks
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has said he has not made a decision about his next move, even though there are many rumours about his future.
Osimhen has been in the spotlight for the past two years with several top European clubs linked with him. The Nigerian forward, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, made a big name for himself in Italy, scoring 76 goals and giving 12 assists in 133 matches for Napoli.
Although many expected Osimhen to leave Napoli for a bigger club last summer, a transfer did not happen. Instead, he joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan.
Since moving to Turkey, the 26-year-old has continued to impress. He has scored 28 goals and made five assists in 32 games for Galatasaray in all competitions. His most recent match was a 2-1 win over rivals Fenerbahce, where he scored both goals to help Galatasaray reach the Turkish Cup semi-finals.
After the game, Osimhen was asked about his future plans. However, he made it clear that he is still focused on helping Galatasaray win the league title.
“I haven’t decided about my future yet. Right now, my only focus is Galatasaray’s championship. I will make this team a champion,” Osimhen said, as quoted by Web Aslan.
Galatasaray are interested in keeping Osimhen permanently, and the striker seems happy in Istanbul. But a permanent move would be very expensive for the Turkish club, and he may prefer to join one of Europe’s top teams.
Arsenal have shown interest in Osimhen before, but with their new sporting director Andrea Berta, they are now looking at signing Viktor Gyokeres instead. Manchester United are also in the picture, but their financial struggles may affect their chances unless they sell a few players first.
Chelsea, on the other hand, appear to be in the strongest position to sign Osimhen. They are in need of a top striker and have the financial power to complete the deal. Still, Osimhen is likely to choose a club that can compete for trophies.
With the season coming to an end, fans can expect a final decision from Osimhen in the coming weeks.
