Victor Osimhen’s teammate suffers 353m financial loss
Galatasaray striker Michy Batshuayi, who plays alongside Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen, has recently fallen victim to a scam that led to a significant financial loss.
Batshuayi revealed that he was swindled out of $212,000 (approximately ₦353 million) by a person who promised to arrange his accommodations and a vehicle in Turkey.
The Belgian footballer entrusted the supposed consultant, identified only as H.B., with handling a six-month rent payment and securing vehicle arrangements in the Besiktas area.
Unfortunately, Batshuayi’s expectations were dashed as neither the housing nor the vehicle materialized. In response to the fraudulent activities, Batshuayi has filed an official complaint.
Authorities have apprehended H.B., who was subsequently brought before a court and released under judicial supervision. Despite this development, the investigation continues as Batshuayi seeks recourse for the financial and personal strain this scam has caused him.
While Batshuayi has not issued a public statement regarding the incident, efforts are focused on recovering his lost funds. The Galatasaray forward, a familiar face in Turkish football, has been dealing with the dual challenge of a legal battle while contributing on the pitch.
Although his role this season has often seen him come off the bench, he has still managed to score five goals and provide two assists across 17 matches in all competitions.
