Victoria Mboko beats Ostapenko to reach Doha Final
Victoria Mboko continued her week in Doha with a 6–3, 6–2 win over Jelena Ostapenko to reach the final of the Qatar Open.
At just 19 years old, Mboko has reached her second WTA 1000 final and her first final in Doha, doing so on her tournament debut. She is the first teenager to reach the Doha final since 2016, when Ostapenko herself achieved the feat.
She defeated Mirra Andreeva, Elena Rybakina, and Jelena Ostapenko in consecutive matches, plus two top-10 players and two Grand Slam champions. This result will lift her into the top 10 when the rankings update on Monday.
After the match, Mboko spoke about the moment.
“It’s crazy. She was playing really great tennis from the start. I felt like I had to step it up. I’m happy to be here in the final. I wanna thank everyone who came to support. There’s a lot of people. It’s a lot more each round.”
The Doha final will be the fourth WTA final of Mboko’s career and her second of the 2026 season.
