Villa Boost!!! Aston Villa Set to Sign Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford on Loan
Aston Villa are working hard to strengthen their attack before the transfer window closes. The club recently sold top scorer Jhon Duran to Al Nassr for £65 million and are now looking to bring in reinforcements.
Villa have agreed a loan deal for Marco Asensio from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) until the end of the season. The 29-year-old Spanish international, under contract with PSG until June 2026, has struggled for game time under manager Luis Enrique. He has been an unused substitute in three of the last four matches, and PSG are open to letting him leave.
Asensio joined PSG from Real Madrid in July 2023 and has scored seven goals in 47 appearances for the French club. Before that, he netted 61 times in 286 games for Real Madrid.
Villa are also close to securing a loan move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford. The 27-year-old has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford and was given the green light to leave. On Saturday, he said goodbye to his United teammates and staff at Carrington as the final details of the loan move were being worked out.
Personal terms have been agreed, and Villa will reportedly cover 70% of Rashford’s £350,000-a-week wages, with performance-related clauses included. The deal is also expected to include an option to buy at the end of the season.
Following Villa’s 2-0 defeat to Wolves on Saturday, manager Unai Emery made it clear that new signings were needed.
“We need some players,” he told the BBC. “We need to replace those who have left. Tomorrow and Monday are the last two days of the transfer window, and I think we will bring in players to help us. We are in the Champions League last 16 and need to keep fighting for a top finish in the Premier League.”
Villa remain interested in Chelsea’s Joao Felix but face competition from AC Milan. Meanwhile, winger Leon Bailey could leave the club, with Manchester United showing interest in a separate deal from the Rashford transfer.
With just days left in the transfer window, Villa are pushing hard to strengthen their squad as they aim for a strong finish in both the Premier League and Europe.
