WAFU B championship bound Golden Eaglets to test might vs P Sports Academy
The WAFU B Championship-bound Golden Eaglets of Nigeria will test their might against P Sports Academy in a friendly match on Thursday, April 25, 2024.
Coach Manu Garba and his Golden Eaglets are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to defend their WAFU B U17 title and will use the game against a talented P Sports Academy team to further test their preparation for the championship.
Despite facing a tight deadline for finalizing the squad, Coach Manu Garba and his technical crew are diligently working to assemble a formidable team from the pool of players invited and those who have showcased their skills at the FIFA Goal Project MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja. The goal is to prepare a squad capable of not only retaining the WAFU B title but also securing a spot in the CAF U17 African Nations Cup.
With just a few days left until the final team submission deadline, Garba and his coaching staff are aware of the challenges posed by the limited preparation time. Unlike some of their West African counterparts who have been in camp since last year, the Golden Eaglets have a condensed timeframe to fine-tune their squad for the upcoming tournament.
Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets are drawn in Group B alongside Togo, Burkina Faso, and Niger Republic.
Their main rivals, Ghana, who have been in camp since 2023 and have had extensive international exposure, are placed in Group A alongside Cote D’Ivoire and Benin Republic.
With only the top two teams from the tournament securing qualification for the CAF U17 African Nations Cup, the stakes are high for the Golden Eaglets, which is why the encounter against Nationwide League One campaigners P Sports will be a good test for the Eaglets.
