Waheed Adebayo says spirit is high in Lobi Stars after win at Kwara
A joyful day for Waheed Adebayo in Ilorin
Lobi Stars forward, Waheed Adebayo believes ‘spirit is high’ in the team after cruising to a 2-0 win against Kwara United in a Matchday 17 clash at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin on Sunday.
An early own goal by Oshagbemi and a goal from Stanley Oganbor made sure the Markudi side grabbed their 10th win of the season in the North-Central derby encounter.
Speaking to Sportsration on Wednesday, Waheed Adebayo said it was a special game for him considering everything at stake.
“We prepared so well for the game in Ilorin. Kwara is my state, my father’s state, where I was born and brought up. A lot of fans showed up, my fans and family came to watch me and I was really happy to get the win away from Ilorin. It was such a joyful moment for me and I will never forget that day in my life.
“Lobi Stars are on same points with Remo Stars and they have given us some challenge at the summit. We have two home games next, and this is probably our chance to move past them but we will take it one at a time because it’s not easy.
The former MFM FC striker reiterates how the team is getting all the support and ways to pay it back.
“The spirit is high in the team and we are not just targeting a continental spot but the NPFL title. The players have had massive support from the management and the state government. Our welfare have been the utmost priority for them and we can only repay them with good results and a title at the end of the season.” Waheed told Sportsration.
Lobi Stars will host two former NPFL Champions, Kano Pillars and Plateau United in consecutive coming Matchdays.
