Waldrum reacts to Oshoala-Oparanozie combo against Haiti
Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum is happy with what he saw from Asisat Oshoala, and Desire Oparanozie in Nigeria’s 2-1 win against Haiti on Friday.
Esther Okoronkwo and Asisat Oshoala scored Nigeria’s goals as they secured a 2-1 win against World cup bound Haiti in Antalya Turkey.
Former captain, Desire Oparanozie made her long-awaited return to the Super Falcons setup in the last 25 minutes of the game.
And despite playing for just 25 minutes, she had a shot on target and created two goal-scoring opportunities, her understanding of how to play with Asisat Oshoala was also evident, something coach Waldrum also noticed.
“Yeah, you know, we had them in the last whatever, 25 Maybe 30 minutes, and you could see the, the way they play together,” said Waldrum to NFF TV.
“How they know each other and I thought there at the end, they were a little bit unlucky not to combine on two occasions in the last 10 minutes on the goal.
“But I like those two together and it’s good to have desire back into camp. For that reason, you know, we want to see how she’s going to fit in.
“You know, playing with the rest of the players. We have a front but you can see the chemistry with her and Asisat, it was really good.”
Hopefully, Desire Oparanozie gets to start on Tuesday when Nigeria continue their International friendly with a clash against New Zealand.
